Where is mt driskill
It is the highest point in the state, located south of the town of Arcadia in Bienville Parish in the northern part of the Louisiana. You are encouraged to sign the guest book at a wooden kiosk at the peak of the foot tall hill. On my visit to this remote community, I encountered several hikers from other parts of the country. The trail to the top of Driskill Mountain opens in the parking lot of a red-brick country church, with a weathered sign by the main road announcing the peak. The Saturday before Thanksgiving, there were three cars lined up along the church building—as much as I like the idea of a secret adventure, my secret rule-following heart was pleased to know exactly where to park.
From there, your path is clear all the way to the top. The main route to the summit is only 0. When I did my hike, the trees and plants were starting to bloom, so it was beautiful and serene to have this all to myself. Fun little trail run.
Thanks to fellow hikers for leaving no trace and preserving access to this high point. Trail itself was a leisurely walk through the woods. Well marked, easy slope. Took maybe 40 minutes tops. Love grabbing state high points. Nice well marked hike - was surprised at the little view up top!
You can make this a loop not on alltrails by following the blue blazes at the junction for 'false mountain'. Saw a bunch of eastern bluebirds. It is amazingly awesome that the people who own this property allow us all to get to the top.. This is an easy hike to the highest point in Louisiana. The trail is on private property so please be respectful and pick up any trash.
The trail is well maintained and there are some nice benches and a kiosk at the top. Nice walk to the top of Louisiana! I guess the "mountain" part is supposed to be humorous it is. Loved it! So beautiful.
There are snakes so wear appropriate shoes. Please note there are a few trees down due to 2 consecutive years of bad storms. Just be careful Great trail! We hiked the easy trail first then went back up the false mtn trail which was more of a challenge but nothing too hard! Beautiful views and fun for all ages! Fun easy trail to claim another high point.
